Din Tai Fung

The various outlets at Din Tai Fung have been known to have inconsistent quality of food across the various locations. Apparently those in town are supposed to serve a better standard of food compared to those in the heartlands? But since i've never tried the outlets in town, and have only eaten at the Din Tai Fung in Junction 8, i've found it pretty satisfactory! (:

i loveeeeee xiao long bao! (: din tai fung may not have the best xiao long bao around (please comment and tell me where you think the BEST is! (: ) but it's nice enough (: I'm always fascinated by the intricate folds of this tiny dumpling. and i love how the soup inside just bursts into my mouth when i bite into it. slathered in vinegar, this little dumpling packs a punch xD

the steamed chicken soup noodle is a dish we always order when we go to din tai fung. It's simple heartwarming food for the soul (: the soup is amazingly tasty despite its apparently plain looks. and the chicken is nice and tender.

this time, we decided to try the dan dan mian. What i do not understand, is WHY dan dan mian served everywhere seems to be a different version??! i wonder what the original one is supposed to be like? The one at Din Tai Fung is pretty interesting. The peanut sauce made it taste somewhat like satay sauce? which was pretty nice. but then again, i like almost everything that has peanut in it (with the exception of peanut paste :/ )

now for the STAR of the meal! (: i saw the gorgeous longevity buns ($7.80 for 7) on display outside the restaurant and i just had to have it! don't they look adorable?! *squeals* (: (: nice soft bun with just the right amount of chewiness, and a generous amount of dou sha inside. sooo yummy! (:

What really impressed me at Din Tai Fung though, had nothing to do with the food. I felt that the service was pretty outstanding! (: at least in the Singapore context haha. The staff were really polite and greeted us every time they came to our table, whether to top up our tea or to serve us food. they were really prompt in refilling our tea too! (: and one of the waitresses was really cute. when she saw Yi picking out all the spring onions from her dish, the waitress told her that she could tell them not to put in the spring onion next time! lol! ;) anyway, yupps! good service! :D
