Long Beach Seafood

Seafooooooooooood! Singaporeans love seafood, don't we? Actually i only started learning how to appreciate seafood in the last couple of years. haha. slowly but surely (: i'm exploring different types of seafood, espcially all the shellfish (yikes! still.) and i'm becoming more adventurous! (: actually ultimately, it mostly boils down to laziness for me :P like crabs and prawns. oh the trouble of peeling them and digging out the meat! :/ not worth the trouble for me haha. anyone would like to volunteer to peel them for me? :P yeah i'm lazy.

well, at any seafood restaurant in singapore, it would be pretty ABSURD to not order chili crab, right? there are two kinds of chili sri lanka crab here -  the popular and classic versions. the popular one would be the singapore version, and classic, the thai version. i wonder what the difference is? anyway, i would say i've tried better chili crabs, like the one at melban (i'll do a review of it when i go there next!). the one here is sweet and spicy, and pretty tasty, but it doesn't have much of a kick? i dunno. for me, the sauce is the most important because i always love drinking it on its own or dunking my man tou/fried bun/french loaf in it. so i was slightly disappointed with the sauce, but it was not bad i guess! (:

yummy!! love the fried buns ($2 for 3) - crispy outside, fluffy inside (:

the canadian live oyster, portuguese style, was ordered by mistake :P because when i first reached the restaurant, i saw a waiter carrying a whole tray of shellfish which looked absolutely delicious. i wanted to order it. but i had no idea what it was called. so i just made a wild guess and ended up with the oyster. hahaha. now i think what i saw was actually scallop, cos the shell was round-ish. :P oops. anyway, this dish was hmmm, something which i still have to get used to i suppose? i'm still not really used to the fishy, seafood-y taste of oysters. and the smell of the cheese was overpowering :O but the oyster was really fresh and the cheese didn't taste as bad as it smelled, so it was pretty alright (:

the prices of the seafood are seasonal, so they're not on the menu (:

the claypot mee sua with fresh crab meat ($30) was yummy!!!!! the mee sua was really fragrant, and the bits of crab treasures were nice as well! (: hehe the best part is not having to peel the crab ;) the egg on top was something which caught my attention. it was paper thin and fried to a crisp! interesting (:

besides seafood, other dishes on the menu sounded SUPER APPETIZING as well! i absolutely loveddddd the handmade beancurd with chef's sauce ($12). crisply fried tofu topped with floss and drizzled with thai sweet chili sauce. all my favourite things combined together = a SUPERB dish <3
