Pique Nique

again, one of the places which i've been wanting to try out for such a long time!!! :) it has such a cute name, i suppose, a pun on the word 'picnic' :) it's under the chain of restaurants that includes antoinette! :D how awesome is that. i feel that antoinette is WAYYYYY better though. or maybe i was just disappointed by the eggs benedict here >.<

looks-wise, the Classic Benedict ($12) was pretty decent. although i felt there was not enough of the hollandaise sauce, so i asked for more, which they generously gave. i liked how the salad had a clean refreshing taste, but i think what was lacking in the dish overall was the flavour of the sauce. it was terribly bland! poorly done in my opinion, as i could barely taste anything in the whole dish. even the ham didnt manage to add much taste. and i'm not sure what the sauce was made of, but it felt too creamy for my liking, and left a heavy feeling, which i didnt like.

on the other hand, the Pique Nique breakfast ($15.80) was way better! good thing, since i assume it was a signature dish. with 2 eggs (your choice of fried, poached or scrambled), grilled bacon and pork sausage, grilled tomato, baked beans with white toast and salad, as well as a choice of coffee/orange juice, this was a good hearty breakfast. highlights included the pork sausage which was rich in essence, and had a spicy flavour which i found interesting! the white toast was also slightly sweet and tasty on its own which was nice.
overall...i think i probably wont be coming back haha. but i heard their whoopie pies are interesting! might wanna try it.
