My hair makeover at kimrobinson

helloooooo! :))) I'M SUPER STOKED TO BE BLOGGING ABOUT THIS :D i heard about _kimrobinson since reading in a magazine about it years ago, and i never thought i would have the opportunity to visit this salon. I feel so lucky to be invited to their salon to try out the services, and i got this gorgeous hair makeover thanks to my hairstylist Carmen, and technician, Brian. thanks so much guys! :)) i really love my hair now :)

stepping into the salon, i was floored by how luxurious it was. the whole ambience screamed luxe, but in a subtle manner that made it more inviting than intimidating.

the salon is bathed in earthy tones, and the lobby beckoned warmly. 

for those who can afford the privacy, there are cosy rooms for such VIPs to enjoy their hair treatments. while i wasn't privy to such additional luxury, i can assure you that even a "normal" seat in the _kimrobinson salon is one of the best you can get :) 

i donned one of the comfy robes to keep me warm and settled into my seat, all excited for my first ever hair makeover ^^

here's how my hair used to be.....

....and this is the result after my first session!! :)))))) i was sooooo happy! my lovely stylist Carmen, and my technician, Brian, transformed my hair from flat and unkempt to these gorgeous, voluminous Japanese curls :')

instead of the traditional digital/ceramic perms that most salons offer, which tend to be very damaging on the hair, Brian gave me the Dijo Perm ($730). this is a technique from Japan that produces soft, self-setting curls and waves and is much gentler on the hair as compared to the other types of perms. with a combination of heat and pH-balanced products, the results were remarkable! i was so astonished and pleasantly surprised to find that i had such incredibly soft curls, with a texture that was comparable to my pre-permed hair, and they were so wonderfully bouncy and voluminous! the best part, because of the self-setting nature of this perm, it require almost no maintenance except that i twirl my hair and allow it to air dry after i wash it. perfect for a person like me who doesn't spend much time on my hair. i really appreciated Brian's thoughtfulness in giving me these effortlessly stylish curls (:

 my haircut with Carmen ($198) started out with a hair consultation, where she took time to understand any needs i had and suggested what she thought would be a good improvement for my hair. i really liked how Carmen was so confident, yet open and friendly, which is why i left the decisions entirely up to her and literally placed the fate of my hair in her skilled hands. she styled the entire look for me - from how the curls were to look and the colour of my hair - and i'm so pleased with how it turned out!! :) with the perm, my hair has so much more life now and even my fringe was jazzed up a little with a mini perm to give it some bounce.

i went back a second time, for the finishing touch ;) a highlight ($328) + colour glossing ($148) this time! it's the first time i've ever gone this light and i was actually pretty apprehensive to begin with. my hair has pretty much been virgin hair, other than one occasion of perming and dyeing (which was barely noticeable because my hair is pretty dark). this time i actually bleached it a little for the highlights! so it was a pretty novel experience for me. and i was SO HAPPY with the results! just look at those striking highlights which in the picture i took while my hair was wet! ^^

(: it looked like such a painstaking process, but Brian was so detailed with every strand, making sure that it was the exact portions that would catch the sunlight at the right angles, and i love how natural it looks! all my worries were immediately put to rest when i saw the final result ^^ so happy!!!! 

spammed quite a bunch of photos because i was so in love with my hair ^^ finally, white hair woes begone! and my hair looked so much more lively and i got so many compliments for my hair! (: it's so beautiful!
