Crystal Jade Shanghai Restaurant

Went to the airport last night! (: my family loves going to the airport haha xD especially with terminal 3! it's so pretty (:

Had dinner at crystal jade. somehow we always gravitate towards it when we go to changi airport. should probably make it a point to try other places as well. i was SO hungry today. i wanted to eat everything.

i ordered the gong bao ji ding ($14) purely for the macademia nuts in it xD oooh heavenly!! i love all kinds of nuts. this dish was very tasty - the sauce was bursting with flavour and the dried chilis lent a nice spicy kick to the dish. and the nuts topped it off perfectly, of course.

the sauteed string beans with minced pork and preserved olive leaf ($12.50) was another favourite dish among us. actually all the dishes tasted wonderful yesterday. but it could have been because i was just starving that's why xD i found this a tad salty, but i couldn't care less. i loved the little bits of minced pork which just livened up the entire dish.

the stewed pork in shanghai style ($15) came with adorable little buns. the shanghai version is different from the normal type of stewed pork we typically eat. the sauce is slightly sweeter which is a rather interesting variation. the meat was tender and oozing with just the right amount of fat to make it tasty (: the bun was a little disappointing, being so small and flat, but it tasted good anyway! i actually preferred it with the gong bao ji ding though! haha!

the xiao long bao  ($5.80) were pretty good too. I have absolutely no idea what is the difference between those at crystal jade and in din tai fung. they both seem equally good to me! but fans of din tai fung will probably scream at me for this :p this time i tried a new way of eating it, after being inspired by my friend. as you know, i am crazy over vinegar, so i decided to drench my xiao long bao in vinegar, instead of dipping it in the sauce! :p hahahaha. let's just say it's only tolerable for silly people like me. Yi was appalled when she tried eating it that way. lol.

it took a long internal struggle before i decided on having the red bean pancake ($6.30) for dessert. no, i wasn't deciding whether or not to eat dessert. after all, i was STARVING. but i couldn't decide whether or not to stay in crystal jade for the red bean pancake or go somewhere else for cakes! :p there was secret recipe, tcc and the coffee club all calling out to me! cakes cakes cakes...! red bean pancake won in the end. i hadn't eaten it for so long, and i missed it far too much. cakes can be eaten anytime, yes? (: soon!! the red bean pancake was nice and crispy with piping hot red bean paste in it. oh so yummy!!! sharing food always makes me want more xD

walked around t3 for awhile, and i finally saw the huge slide there! cool. the picture just shows part of it. it's really tall! but i wouldn't want to try it. seems really claustrophobic :/ evidently it's just for kids.
