it's been a crazy week! so glad that it's finally recess week, although four semesters in smu has already proven that recess week is an absolute misnomer. still, i'm happy that there arent lessons at least! and september has long gone, but anyway here are some updates from the past month! with school, there are hardly any chances to take photos, but here are some that i managed to squeeze out ;)
kicked off the month with debbie's birthday celebration! :) one out of my close friends who are actually having a 21st party -.- sighs. missing out on the fun of going to good friends' 21sts. but it's nice to be able to meet up and celebrate anyway! haha debbie was busy rushing around, as expected, but i had a good time catching up with weiling :)
met up with debbie a couple of weeks later for dinner! :) it's really nice that i have all these food tastings, and when i bring different people, it's a great time to catch up! ^^ good excuse to meet up with friends <3
mooncake festival was in september as well! and this year we seemed to eat relatively fewer mooncakes. but it's alright, i was happy with my few favourites at least ;) getting fat already anyway. this is terrible! >:( anyway, these are the or nee mooncakes from peony jade! :D not sure whether i'd kept them for too long before eating this time, but they weren't as good as what i remembered from the past two years :( what they're supposed to be is really crispy flaky mooncakes with a deliciously thick or nee (yam) paste inside. loooove it :D
mummy bought raffles hotel mooncakes this time! yumyum. this traditional mooncake was super yummy! chock full of pine nuts and macadamia nuts *squeals!!* :D
hehe and we got extra servings of these champagne truffle mooncakes from raffles hotel cos sam bought them for us too :') sweet, with a delightful tinge of champagne in the little ball in the middle of each mooncake. just pop one into your mouth and enjoy ^^
celebrated mummy's birthday! :) i always love planning all the food for birthdays hehe :D so fun! and ohmygosh this reminds me we havent gotten her present yet!!!! OOOOOOOOOOPS.
super proud of my choice of cake, and really glad that i finally had the chance to try out flor patisserie! they really have the most delicious japanese cakes EVER. it is so awesome!! i chose the matcha ke-ki for mummy cos she likes green tea. and it was SOOOOO delicious! their cakes are really light, love the spongy texture that held a full-bodied flavour of the matcha, the azuki red bean cream in the middle, and the whipped cream on top was oh-so-light! :) soooo yummy.
