Mayim Chinese Cuisine

After the movie yesterday, we skipped over to Northpoint for dinner! (: We decided to try out someplace which we have never visited before, and since grannie was with us, we had to have Chinese food, of course (: actually that’s not true, grannie can eat anything, haha :P
So we decided to visit Mayim Chinese Cuisine, as I was really attracted by their menu!!! :P there is a really wide variety of food, and the pictures all looked drool-worthy (: check if out at their website! (:
These were the cute stuff around that i couldn’t help taking pictures of before the meal started (: Sorry for the lousy picture quality xP My camera ran out of battery so i borrowed my sister’s phone.
1. The condiments that came with the meal! The one right in front was my favourite. Guess what it is? Fried garlic!!!! :D OOH, joy (: I sprinkled a few spoonfuls on top of my rice and it was heavenly! Added a wonderful spice to my rice (:
2. The pickles that came in such cute bottles! :D The one on the left was the peanuts, which i had a hard time keeping my hands off, since i love them, and they looked so delicious! The other bottle was their Szechuan Cabbage, which is supposed to have a blend of 11 kinds of sauces & spices (according to their website ;) )
3. Our tea! The tea is priced per person (which i found kind of odd), but they came in teapots anyway. I was tricked! :P Mummy told me that there was a type of tea called ‘Blend of jasmine tea with rose buds’ ($1.20/person) which i thought sounded really gorgeous and exotic. It turned out to be normal 香片 tea -.- oh well, it’s my fault for not reading the menu. but it was pretty good anyway (: On the other hand, the chrysanthemum tea ($1.80/person) which Y ordered was terribly plain-tasting! :/

First dish was the tofu with pickled cabbage, spinach, french beans bamboo pith and edamame ($8.50). The tofu was fried just nicely, and the combination of veggies was just perfect. I love tofu!!! (:
As you probably know by now, I used to not like fish much, but now i’m getting better at eating it. BUT i only like fish fillets, preferably fried (I still really really don’t like steamed fish xP), so this dish was perfect for me! It was Golden fried silver cod fish served with light soya sauce ($15.50). The fish was lightly fried, with a wonderfully crispy skin, and the slices of ginger on top completed the dish (:
Now for the ‘real’ meat! I can’t survive without meat :P This was the Tangy honeyed spare ribs garnished with sliced garlic ($10.50), which was probably my favourite dish! (: I loved the honey sauce and the sliced garlic! I took a whole lot of it to add on to the little garlic pieces on my rice. So much garlic xP haha. One gripe though was that it was terribly difficult to get the meat off the bone!!! ): I really liked the meat but it was so tiring to eat it…
Our last dish was Fried chicken with ginger wine garnished with half-cooked egg ($9). It was a pretty interesting dish. The chicken was really soft, which was a relief after trying to gnaw the pork off the bone, but for some reason, grannie said that it was TOO soft. O.o what’s wrong with that? I have no idea. But i felt the ginger wine could have been more tasty! I liked how the egg added an extra dimension to the dish! (:
We were too full after that to order dessert, but the chilled mango pudding looked really delicious!
